Harvest at Daylesford
As the wind gets up and the leaves come down it is clear that autumn is settling in and so it is time to celebrate harvest. As reliable as the weather is Daylesford marking the seasons with various events and on Saturday 22nd September 2018 they have their ‘Harvest’ jamboree.
Entertainment at Harvest
There will be workshops for children, apple bobbing and courgette jenga in the market garden and a competition area for best veg, jam and dahlia. Needless to say you can also relieve yourself of cash at the bar and BBQ let alone the existing shop and café.

The Country Brocante
An added dimension this year is the simultaneous hosting of ‘The Country Brocante’. This delightful event gathers “exhibitors with decorative antiques, antique furniture and specialist textiles and timeworn homeware.” An Aladdin’s cave of fabrics, clothes, pictures, crafts and furniture for the whimsical country style Daylesford personifies.

The Country Brocante was established by Lucy Haywood as a hobby that grew into a thriving business from her home in West Sussex. Lucy’s inspiration came from her childhood where her mother, a seamstress, made her clothes and loved finding treasures in car boot sales and jumble sales. Lucy’s early collection led to a business hiring vintage props and china to dress marquees for weddings. This grew into a showroom for brides to gain inspiration and as they started buying things and the shop grew, other people approached Lucy wanting to sell their products. From this Lucy established a local fair which started in village halls and now includes other, bigger venues including a run of marquees at Daylesford. Over 100 exhibitors from France and England come as well as new designers, ladies with hobbies and bigger companies. Lucy says she is not focused on what’s ‘on trend’, just simple country living.

Stay and Shop
The Daylesford Harvest event is free, The Country Brocante is a seperate event and tickets are available on the door for adults – so don’t let the children run in (they and dogs are free) or you’ll have to pay to fish them out! However, they might be busy on the mini-JCB tractors at the Harvest event…so much choice, so little time (and money!)
