Our Gardens Featured in Cotswold Life Magazine
We’re delighted to share that the gardens at Kingham Lodge, home to Kingham Cottages, have been featured in the May 2026 edition of Cotswold Life Magazine 🌿
In a beautiful feature titled “Layered Landscape”, the article explores the unique character of our gardens – describing them as offering “something different to the usual Cotswold plot.”

A Garden Created Over Time
The gardens have been thoughtfully developed over more than 30 years, evolving from open grassland into a rich and varied landscape. Today, they span a mix of styles and spaces – from woodland walks and wildflower meadows to formal borders, ponds and sculptural planting.
This sense of variety is what makes the gardens so special. Each turn reveals something new: winding informal paths, bursts of seasonal colour, and peaceful corners to pause and take it all in.
Something Truly Unique
One of the standout features highlighted in the article is the Moorish-inspired garden – a tranquil courtyard space influenced by the gardens of southern Spain, with water features, architectural detail and planting that feels quite unexpected in the Cotswolds.
Elsewhere, the gardens are home to an extraordinary range of plants, including acid-loving varieties such as rhododendrons and camellias, which are rarely seen thriving in this part of the country.
From early spring blossom through to late summer colour, there is always something in bloom – creating a garden that feels alive and ever-changing throughout the seasons.

A Space to Explore and Enjoy
For our guests, the gardens are more than just a backdrop – they are an integral part of the Kingham Cottages experience.
Whether it’s:
- a morning walk with a coffee in hand
- an afternoon reading by the pond
- children running freely across the lawns
- or simply sitting and enjoying the peace and quiet
…the gardens offer space to slow down and reconnect with nature.

A Setting for Creativity and Community
The gardens also provide the setting for Sculpture at Kingham Lodge, a much-loved biennial exhibition where artworks are displayed throughout the landscape – blending art and nature in a truly special way.
Come and Experience Them for Yourself
We feel incredibly proud to see the gardens recognised in Cotswold Life, and even more so to be able to share them with those who stay with us.
If you’re looking for a place to relax, explore and enjoy the beauty of the Cotswolds, we’d love to welcome you.
