5 Brilliant Things to Do with Kids in the Cotswolds
Staying at Kingham Cottages means you’re perfectly placed for some of the Cotswolds’ very best family days out 🌿🐾
Whether you’re travelling with toddlers, teenagers, or a mix of ages, there’s plenty nearby to keep everyone entertained – from animals and adventure to gardens and miniature worlds.
Here are five tried-and-tested favourites, all within an easy drive.
1. Cotswold Farm Park
A total hit with younger children. Home to rare breeds, friendly farm animals and hands-on experiences, it’s a place where little ones can get up close with nature. There are indoor barns for rainy days, outdoor play areas, seasonal events, and plenty of space to explore – plus a café and rustic restaurant for when you need a break.
Drive time: approx. 30 minutes
Top tip: Pre-book tickets online, especially in school holidays

2. Cotswold Wildlife Park
A brilliant option for a full day out. From lions and rhinos to giraffes, penguins and lemurs, there’s so much to see – all set within beautiful landscaped gardens. Children will love the mini steam train, and there are plenty of picnic spots and cafés dotted throughout.
Drive time: approx. 30 minutes
Opening: 10am (March–December)

3. Batsford Arboretum & Falconry Centre
For something a little calmer but equally memorable, Batsford offers stunning gardens and peaceful woodland walks, alongside the Falconry Centre where you can see over 150 birds of prey. Daily flying displays are a real highlight and tend to captivate both children and adults.
Drive time: approx. 20 minutes

4. The Model Village, Bourton-on-the-Water
A village within a village! This charming 1/9 scale miniature version of Bourton-on-the-Water is a fascinating place to explore, with incredible detail that keeps children (and grown-ups) engaged far longer than expected.
Drive time: approx. 25 minutes

5. Blenheim Palace Adventure Play
An exceptional, inclusive play area set within the grounds of Blenheim Palace. Designed for children of all abilities, it features wide pathways, ramps, accessible towers and imaginative play zones. It’s one of the best adventure playgrounds in the UK – and well worth the trip.
Drive time: approx. 40 minutes

Something for Everyone
From high-energy adventures to slower, more relaxed days out, the Cotswolds offers something for every child – and every generation.
And the best part? At the end of the day, you can come back to Kingham Cottages, unwind, and do it all again tomorrow 💛
